About

This is a blog about reading, rereading, and the writing life, kept by one person who has spent more evenings with books than is probably sensible. The posts here wander between the shelf and the desk: essays on the novels that stayed with me, notes on the slow craft of writing, and the small practical business of making and selling little books. I am not a critic in any official sense and I have no syllabus to defend. I am a reader who writes, drawn to fiction that trusts its readers and to the quiet questions a good book leaves behind. If you care about the same things, sitting a while with a hard idea, going back to the books that changed you, paying attention to how sentences actually work, then you are in the right place. Stay as long as you like.
